Gowanus is the low ground between Carroll Gardens and Park Slope, an industrial pocket that filled with venues before it filled with residents. The bars sit on Third and Fourth Avenue and on the cross streets that dead-end at the canal, and most of them are destinations rather than corner rooms. The windows that exist open in the afternoon, are shut by early evening, and none of them run every day of the week.
