How happy hour actually works in New York.

Happy hour in New York is not one thing. It's a few thousand bars each running their own window, their own deal, and their own definition of "until 7." Some post it on a chalkboard. Some post it on an Instagram story from 2023. Almost none of them put it anywhere you can search. That's the gap Stoop exists to close: we track the windows and the prices, live, and show you what's actually pouring near you right now.

The windows

The classic NYC window is 4 to 7pm on weekdays, built around the office crowd. But the city runs wider than that. Dive bars in the East Village open their deals at noon. Wine bars in the West Village start at 5 and hold until 8. FiDi bars compress everything into a frantic 5-to-7 because everyone clears out by 8. Brooklyn runs later across the board, and a handful of bars run all-day deals that make the word "hour" a formality. The only reliable rule: the window you remember from your last visit has probably changed. Check the bar's page for this week's schedule before you commit to a walk.

The deals

A good NYC happy hour deal in 2026 looks like this: $4 to $6 drafts, $7 to $9 wine, $8 to $10 wells, and oysters for a dollar if you're lucky. Anything under $5 is a genuine dive-tier find, and we track exactly where those live. Anything over $10 is a bar calling its regular price a special. We list the actual menu prices, per drink, so you can judge the deal before you're holding it.

Weekdays and weekends

Most bars concentrate their deals Monday through Thursday, because that's when they need the traffic. Fewer run a weekend window, which is exactly why the ones that do are worth knowing about. We show weekend windows the same way we show weekday ones, live, and each neighborhood page carries its own count for every day of the week.

Where to go

Pick by mood, not by listicle. St. Marks and Avenue A for cheap and loud. The West Village for a proper glass of wine before dinner. Tribeca and FiDi for the after-work crowd and surprisingly good oyster deals. Williamsburg for patios that hold the sun until 8. Every neighborhood we track has its own page with every bar, today's windows, and the cheapest pour in walking distance.

Why trust this page

Every price and window on Stoop comes from tracked menus and bar-submitted schedules, refreshed continuously, with the update date printed on every page. When a bar kills its deal, it comes off the site. No 2019 roundups, no "call ahead to confirm." If it says pouring, it's pouring.
